Beautiful section of the Ems cycle path

A great, cozy beer garden with a small menu of delicious dishes. It's worth a stop.

There's no observation tower here...it was demolished. Now there's an insect hotel there as a "training project by Malte Wessels." The bridge leads over the Walchum Schot and the bench...wow, it's on the Ems cycle path along the Dortmund Ems Canal 😁🫣

Although the Küstenkanal crosses the Dortmund-Ems Canal, it does not do so in the form of a classic waterway intersection with a bridge over another navigable waterway. Instead, it flows into the Dortmund-Ems Canal. Therefore, the term "Ems-Küstenkanal waterway intersection" is misleading. The Küstenkanal is a connection that links the Dortmund-Ems Canal and the Hunte River, but not a waterway intersection in its own right.

The Ems-Coastal Canal waterway junction is not a separate waterway junction in the sense of Minden or Magdeburg, where canals are routed over other waterways. Rather, the Coastal Canal is a federal waterway that connects the Dortmund-Ems Canal (Ems) near Dörpen with the Hunte River near Oldenburg. The Coastal Canal thus serves as a link between these two important waterways.
