After the peat bog was extracted in the 1960s, the Dutch Forestry Commission began the renaturation of what is now the Bargerveen nature reserve. Today, due to its exceptional diversity of flora and fauna, it enjoys special protection as a European bird sanctuary and an important wetland. You can explore the area on approximately 30 kilometers of hiking trails, enjoy panoramic views of the bog from the observation hill and tower, or experience the unique landscape on guided tours and accessible rides on the Veenland Express train.

A very nice hut with benches and tables both inside and outside. This hut was built and is maintained by the Ostenfeld Mountain Club. Great! 👍👍

On the small but charming market square in Tecklenburg, you should definitely take a break. It's beautiful!

Wonderful for a break and a nice, friendly restaurant. Enjoy the sheep, cows, pigs, and chickens.

There are beautiful hiking trails around the bathing lake

A very beautiful trail. I cycled from Malepartus towards Bad Iburg. It's the easier route with only two climbs, then almost all downhill. The view is fantastic, not like in the Alps, of course, but still very beautiful. You end up right at the Charlotten Grill. A coffee or a snack is a must.

Wonderful place to relax, beautiful view. Restaurant is top, good host, tasty lunch and on some days even dinner with a beautiful view.
