Beautiful area of Otley.

Surprise View at 282m is probably named because most people approach from the south and "pop up" over the Chevin ridge to discover the view. And it's a good one - out over the local woods and moorland, across Otley to the north and over Nidderdale and the Yorkshire Dales. The viewpoint is close to the car park so it's often busy, but head along the ridge for a few minutes and you'll have similar views all to yourself. The running here is enjoyable but not too technical, with the best trails following the ridgeline and looping back on one of the lower paths. Cross the East Chevin Road into Chevin Forest Park to extend the run.

A good steady climb if you're heading away from Otley, but the real fun is on the descent. It's a wide road so a good run into Otley. The view to your right is pretty good too.

Wharfemeadows is a beautifully maintained park, running alongside the River Wharfe. It features rowing boats for hire, a cafe, plenty of seating for a relaxing break, and a great footpath running along the river, towards Leathley.

Tittybottle park, formerly Manor Parade Gardens, is the smallest park in Otley. A slim stretch of greenery alongside the river Wharfe, with plenty seating to watch the ducks and boats go by, ideally with some fish and chips. The park got became known as Titttybottle park after its popularity with mother's who would be found seated, feeding their babies.

Otley Bridge is a Scheduled Ancient Monument and crosses the River Wharfe at the heart of Otley's picturesque riverside area. It is a stone structure, consisting of seven spans and originates from 1228. Floods in the late 17th century forced an extensive rebuild and the bridge was further widened in 1776 and again in 1957, when a cantilevered footwalk was added.
