The mill, built between 1533 and 1549, is the second oldest mill in Wieseck after the Badenburg mill, which was probably built in the second half of the 14th century. The builder of the mill, who was granted water and milling rights by the landgrave, was Hermann Möller. The builder's great-great-grandchildren, Johann and Reinhardt Reitz, sold the mill property in 1609 to Johann Strupp von Gelnhausen, who served as chancellor of the landgrave's government chancellery in Giessen from 1605 to 1617. His widow still lived at the mill in 1648. Since then, the name “Struppmühle” has become established. The mill is privately owned to this day. The Struppmühle currently generates around 6,000 kilowatt hours annually.
