The ruins of St. John's Church in Niederwalluf are a quiet, historically significant site right next to the Walluf Tower Castle. It is one of the most charming stopovers for cyclists.

The ruins of St. John's Church in Walluf in the Rheingau-Taunus district are a very idyllic, enchanted place. This wasn't always the case, as it served as the parish church in Niederwalluf until 1719. It was built in 1508 to replace a previous building erected in the 10th/11th century – traces of this can still be seen on the north wall. The ruins stood and still stand directly next to the Walluf tower castle, built in the 10th century. This site has always been inhabited. During the Thirty Years' War, the church was devastated and subsequently used as a stable and barn. Donations made it possible for the building to be restored. In 1773, it was scheduled for demolition, but Niederwalluf's pastor, Oel, prevented this on the grounds that the church was a stop in the annual Corpus Christi procession. The church's ossuary was also still in use. The extensive demolition then took place in 1807. By that time, the village had already migrated westward, to the other side of the Wallufbach stream. Here, on Electoral Mainz territory, residents had been able to benefit from the protection of the so-called Gebück and the civil rights of the Rheingau since the 14th century.

It's always a beautiful sight to walk or cycle along the Leinpgad and look at the boats.

Hessenwasser's Schierstein Waterworks is located on the Rhine between Wiesbaden and Walluf in Hesse and is part of the Rhine-Main Wiesbaden Industrial Heritage Route.
