The Sailors' Path is a historic trail linking Snape Maltings and Aldeburgh on the coast. It heads through marshes, woodlands and wide open spaces, and would've been walked by sailors in times gone by. Today, it's simply a stunning trail and is also used by the Suffolk Coast Path.

A short, sharp climb, which can test the legs. Reaches double figures briefly.

The little village of Friston is set in beautiful rural countryside within the Suffolk Coast and Heaths AONB. While accommodation is sparse here, there is a pub – the Old Chequers – that serves good food. There are plenty of interesting places within walking distance, including the cultural sites at Snape Maltings, the serene Alde Estuary and the delightful coast between Aldebrugh and Thorpeness.

Great place to stop for a picnic or just some shade from the sun. There's a seating area on the adjacent field too.

The Aldeburgh end starts rather sandy but this is very quiet compacted gravel track. Watch out for the cows.
