The peculiarity of the location on Hohe Straße and the Limes has given Marköbel historical significance. Already in early history as a trading settlement, then as a supra-regional medieval market (until 1220) with the seat of a judicial high court as well as the imperial privilege of town charter and the construction of ramparts, moats and curtain walls with the two entrances, the upper and lower gates, bear witness to the historical importance of Marköbel. Landscape windows point out the special features. The interface between Hohe Straße and the Limes is marked by several wooden steles in the Krebsbach area.

Two double glass steles were positioned in such a way that, when the visibility was clear, the Feldberg in the Taunus on the right and the Messeturm in Frankfurt on the left could be focused on. The 6.50 meter high steles are made of Corten steel with internal, horizontally layered glass panes.
