The Neuenmarkt train station and depot required many employees to be located directly on site. These many railway workers and their families needed accommodation. When the depot was expanded in 1892, house number 1 was built here. Later, an entire housing estate of multi-story buildings developed, a special form of the typical contemporary workers' housing, which continued to grow until the 1960s. Only railway workers were allowed to live here.
