The best way to reach the Kastenbrünnle is from Weitramsdorf. Right next to it is the Kastenholz chapel, a place of worship in the middle of the forest and beautifully designed.

Weitramsdorf was first mentioned in 1177. As part of the Coburg region, the settlement belonged to the Hennebergs in the 13th century, which passed to the Wettins in the 14th century.
