Varied tour through a wonderful moor landscape

The basilica is currently closed to visitors due to hail damage (hailstorm in August 2023) and structural damage (previous inadequate renovations). Only the vestibule is accessible. The entire nave is scaffolded to prevent ceiling stucco and frescoes from falling and to allow for ceiling work. Therefore, the St. Anastasia Chapel in the northeast corner is also closed to visitors.

In August 2023, a hailstorm destroyed most of the roofs and windows, as well as the exterior. The persistent rain further contributed to the extensive destruction inside. To this day, the basilica and a large portion of the monastery complex are still under scaffolding and under repair. At the same time, older damage caused by structural deficiencies in the basilica is being repaired, and the educational area is being expanded due to increased demand. The basilica can only be entered through the entrance area, as the entire interior of the nave is also under scaffolding.
