The Little Mermaid in Herrsching am Ammersee is a popular bronze sculpture located directly on the promenade of Lake Ammersee. It depicts a mermaid resting on a catfish. The sculpture was created in 2005 by the artist Hildegard Grotewahl and presented to the municipality of Herrsching as a gift.

A catfish of this size was caught in Lake Wörth in 1999. Really impressive. The catfish is a river catfish, belongs to the catfish family and is the largest freshwater fish in Europe. Regionally it is known as a wels catfish.
