The Tornado Crash Memorial near Lagerlechfeld commemorates the accident on December 9, 2004, in which two German army pilots were killed 🕊️

On December 9, 2004, a Tornado ECR crashed at this location. The 31-year-old pilot, Captain Eik von Zehmen, and his 40-year-old weapons systems officer, Major Konrad Huf, were killed in the crash. The Tornado crashed just 3.5 km southeast of its home airfield, Lagerlechfeld, from which it had previously taken off. The cause of the crash could not be determined.
