Lemons Hill Bridge carries the road across the northern end of Alton water reservoir. It links the two parts of Tattingstone village.

Won’t get a more seasidy feel than fish and chips and a walk up the pier!

As with much of Suffolk. Polstead Pond is another gem worthy of a detour

The name Polstead means place by the pool. The benches by the village pond are a great spot to rest and enjoy the peace of a classic Suffolk village, surrounded by history, and picture perfect timber-framed and thatched cottages.

Probably one of the best stretches of quite road in the county.

Great views of...a random village street. There's a nice enough looking village pub I suppose.

A pair of restored Victorian lighthouses, now prominent landmarks along the beach.

Lovely bit of coastline to ride along, especially the eastern half beyond the pier where the road rises up and follows the low cliffs giving views across the water towards the offshore wind farm.

Can't really visit the pier itself with your bike and wearing road cleats but the driveway approach is quite a spectacle in itself.

there's c. 400m of gravel leading up to the vineyard, I'd hike that bit in and out if riding road bike.

The best view of the upper part of Alton Water. A wide, fast descent to the bridge from either direction with a short climb out.

About 20m of the pier is now restored and open but that still leaves a lot left to do!

Panoramic view down the Shotley Peninsula towards the mouth of the Stour with the ports of Harwich and Felixstowe in view.

Nice little town with a scenic location at the top of the Stour estuary and a pretty, historic high street with several cafes as well as a Tesco convenience store.
