Part of the Woodland Trust and just a short distance from Colchester, Fordham Hall Estate is Eastern England’s largest woodland creation site. With delightful colours year-round as well as grassland & marshland, Fordham Hall Estate is a special gem in Essex.

Probably one of the best stretches of quite road in the county.

It's just a Greggs, and it is in Sudbury, but useful if you need a coffee and something sugary to eat. If you want to sit with your bikes, there are benches outside, a bit lower down the slope of the street.

The bench by the Stour really is a nice spot if you need a stop. There's a tarmac path leading to it if you don't fancy off-roading across the grass.

Semi-hidden turning off the main B1408 which drops you over the bypass into the new Legoland suburbs of Colchester. Better than the main roads.

A pleasant road offering some great views of the Stour valley, especially at the southern end where a couple of climbs provide panoramas. The view from The Lamarsh Lion free house is particularly good.

Impressive structure bridging the Colne Valley. The longest bridge in East Anglia!

The concrete road surface is pretty rough but best to try and carry your speed if you can for the rises at either end.
