Very tasty patisserie and good coffee

Sur En d'Ardez Sur En near Ardez is characterized by its typical Engadin houses with sgraffito and was the filming location for the Schellen-Ursli film. All scenes from the home village of Uorsin, his family, and friends were filmed here. Sur En d'Ardez is situated on a terrace, high above the Inn River, on the right side of the valley, directly opposite Ardez and Guarda. The small hamlet is almost deserted in winter and, with its peaceful atmosphere, is best explored on foot. Entire house facades and buildings were rebuilt for filming. Walking through the village, however, one discovers a few familiar alleys here and there, or the fountain around which the children run at Chalandamarz. According to the story by Selina Chönz and Alois Carigiet, the Schellen-Ursli story takes place exclusively in Guarda, which, however, was not considered a filming location due to its busy commercial environment. Whether we descend from the mountain lakes on Piz Cotschen, come from the Val Tasna past Chanoua to the WWF Emerald Area, or ascend from the Inn Gorge after visiting Sur-En or Tarasp: we are not going to Ardez, but arriving there. Ardez is an architectural gem in the Lower Engadine, one of the best-preserved villages in the region. Its Engadine-style houses, with their typical thick walls, small windows, and facades decorated with elaborate sgraffito, give it a unique charm. Dominated by the imposing ruins of Steinsberg Castle, the village is a place of great tranquility, where time seems to have stood still. Ardez is an ideal starting point for hikes and walks.

Alp Sura is a charming mountain pasture at the edge of the forest, at the foot of Piz Cotschen. Here you can enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding peaks, including Piz Buin and Piz Macun, and the Inn Valley.

Alp Suot is a charming mountain pasture surrounded by nature. In summer, the pasture hosts goats and produces fresh cheese. I recommend stopping at the small kiosk for refreshments!
