The Main river bank between Obere Maingasse and the Mainsteg is a very popular and busy place, especially in the summer months, as the excursion boats from Würzburg dock here. Sculptures by various sculptors are set up in the green areas. The "washing ship" by sculptor Heinrich Pechwitz at the end of Obere Maingasse and the "fishing couple" by sculptor Lothar Forster on Untere Maingasse point to the importance of the Main for the people of Veitshöchheim. Anyone interested in the history of the river will especially want to read the water levels at the high water marks in both Maingasses.

The "Meegärtle" is one of the few truly "classic" beer gardens in the region. Under old chestnut trees, guests can enjoy this beautiful spot with a direct view of the river. The "Meegärtle" offers a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere and delicious, homemade specialties. The curry sausages with fries and the fish sandwich enjoy cult status. Steaks, meat cakes, more and more vegetarian or vegan dishes, other snacks and various cakes round off the offer. To quench your thirst, there is a wide range of beer and wine from the region. The focus on regional products and the implementation of a credible sustainability concept is a matter close to the heart of the Meegärtle team. Current geographical center of the European Union Since the United Kingdom left the EU on January 31, 2020, the geographical center of the EU has been in the Würzburg district, in the Gadheim district of the Franconian municipality of Veitshöchheim Welt-Icon. It is marked by a paved roundabout, the EU flag and a shell limestone boulder that was erected at the calculated point.
