From the first half of the 19th century, the Scherer family owned the mill. They modernized the operation and expanded the mill from two to four millstones. The mill was destroyed by bombs in 1945.

The village mill (also known as Scherersmühle) was located in the center of the village on a millstream branching off from the Breitbach. Wenzel Hecht is first documented as the village miller in 1649.
