Tübingen Central Station is a local transport hub in Baden-Württemberg and the largest train station in the university town of Tübingen and the district of the same name. Tübingen Central Station is located south of the city center on the side of the Neckar River facing away from the old town. Originally built in open fields, the Tübingen districts of Derendingen and Südstadt (South City) now border it directly to the south. The bus station was established in 1960 on the station forecourt (Europaplatz). From here, 25 daytime and 12 nighttime bus lines operated by TüBus connect the station with the entire city area, and 7 additional lines connect the station with surrounding communities not served by rail. Currently (2021), Europaplatz is undergoing a complete redesign. The platforms are accessible via an underpass, the southern exit of which leads into Südstadt.
