ライン川の河川敷にある非常に大きな掘削湖で、バーデン＝ヴュルテンベルク州で最大です。素晴らしいハイキングコースとあらゆる種類のウォータースポーツが楽しめます。ライン川への航行可能な接続により、大型貨物船も航行可能です。 興味深い歴史：1930年代初頭、砂利ではなく金が掘削されていました。ナチスはこの地で伝説のラインの黄金を探していました。しかし、収穫は非常に少なく、数年後に砂利の掘削に切り替えられました。

The nature reserve is located in the municipality of Elchesheim-Illingen, southwest of the village of Elchesheim. An extremely diverse wetland has developed in the clay and loam pit that was abandoned many years ago. The "Seitel" nature reserve is located in the Northern Upper Rhine Lowlands natural region of Baden-Württemberg and is the smallest nature reserve in the Rastatt district. The area was designated a nature reserve by decree of the Karlsruhe Regional Council on November 27, 1991, and covers an area of 5 hectares. It is listed under protected area number 2.039 and is classified as an IUCN Category IV habitat and species conservation area. The primary conservation objective is the preservation and maintenance of a wetland typical of the former floodplain of the Upper Rhine, with its drier marginal zones and highly differentiated meadow communities. Within a very small area, one can find a wide variety of landscape elements typical of the Rhine lowlands and a shallow pond that is permanently filled with water.
