Ashridge Estate is a large area of ancient trees, chalk downland and meadows in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It's been managed by the National Trust since 1926.

This was on my route unexpectedly. Left my mouth open for a bit. Very beautiful.

This wood is Bluebells Heaven - you will never, in all likelihood, see this many bluebells in one place in your life! Gorgeous doesn't quite begin to describe it. The wood is within the Ashridge Estate and managed by the National Trust. Obviously, come here when the flowers are in bloom for the best aesthetic effects.

Short and steep.

Ashridge house and the surrounding woods are a great spot for a ride or a run. Elizabeth 1 spent parts of her childhood at the house.

Returned to Ashridge House. Lovely setting. Wasn't overly impressed with the food if I'm being totally honest, on the evidence of this visit. Bit undercooked IMHO and quite pricey. Zillions of wasps descended when the food arrived, which made it difficult to enjoy eating. However, it's such a nice setting and relaxing place that I will visit again.

Beautiful setting and building. I'll check out the food on my next visit.

Here you will get views of Ashridge House once a royal residence to Henry VIII and Princess Elizabeth I. A Grade I neo-gothic country estate set in 190 acres of beautiful landscaped gardens. Today Ashridge House is an meeting, events and wedding venue.. For the weary cyclist or walker you will find a cafe set in a courtyard.
