Note that the line runs well below street level and thus needs to be accessed by a longer flight of stairs at this entry point. With a bikepacking load, a better alternative seems to be a ramp on Ambrose Lane, which I only discovered in hindsight.

As you turn off Dagnall Road, get into a low gear and take it easy. You don't want to be going into the red before the twisty steep bit, as it feels really narrow and if you put your foot down it might be hard to get going again.

Whitwell is a charming village located near Harpenden in Hertfordshire. Stop at the Bull Inn for a refreshing drink, or visit Emily's Tea Room and grab yourself some delicious cakes or coffee.

The Dunstable Downs has some Beautiful breathtaking views 🔭

Dunstable downs is a great place to bring a bike, once you have put the effort into riding up you are rewarded with great views and visitor centre where you can grab a coffee. Bridleways and tracks for those on mountain or gravel bikes and surfaced multi user path along the ridge for other bikes.

beware you brakes get very hot by the time you get to the bottom.. allow extra braking time when you come to stop at the end.

A well hidden stop behind the high street in Whitwell. Nice place to grab a coffee with the added bonus of a bike repair/spares shop on the premises.

The tearoom is not open at present.

Beautiful ride through the trees and not a car in sight.
