The Wehr cavern power plant generates 1.16 billion kilowatt hours of electricity annually, which accounts for more than half of the total production of Schluchseewerk AG. This output is made possible by the enormous head of 630 meters from the Hornberg basin, which, with 4.4 million cubic meters of water, can operate the machines in the cavern at maximum power for seven hours.

The Storchensteg in Wehr is a historic wooden bridge over the Wehra and was inaugurated in 1908. The structure lasted exactly 38 years before three Wehr residents crashed through the bridge with their wooden cart. Two years later, in 1948, a new bridge was built. This was also made of wood, but was covered with slate. Today the bridge even has its own carnival clique, the "Storchestäghüüler"
