A step/ride back to the 17th century!

Pednor House is a Grade II listed building in Chartridge, Buckinghamshire. Originally a 17th-century farmhouse, it was enlarged in 1910 under the architects Forbes and Tate in the Arts and Crafts style. The house is a large U-shaped structure with a cylindrical dovecote and stands in a beautiful setting. The grounds were originally designed by Gertrude Jekyll.

This church was renovated in 2015, and it's a lovely one, but it's really what's outside that is quite striking! First of all, there is the Labirynth, which is new and was consecrated in 2023. The reason it's here is because, as the leaflet produced by the church tells me, such mazes with their twists and turns to the centre represented a journed to the New Jerusalem: in short, they are symbols of a pilgrimage. Secondly, in the autumn you will find lots of fungi in the church grounds! - and there is a significant information board provided to tell you what they are. Don't miss this!

This place is awesome and comes completely out of the blue. A very posh house on a small country road.

If you follow the tarmac left up the very steep hill, it takes you onto Route 57: This is a lovely lane that runs high above the Chess Valley into Chesham, with very little traffic.

A nice lane running through Peterley Woods

This is the tarmacked part of Herbert's Hole. It extends eastwards as a footpath towards Chesham.

Drydell Lane runs right through this local attraction. The original 17th Century farm building was extended in 1910 into this picturesque Tudor courtyard house.
