Apparently the only complete windmill in Hertfordshire

A ruined castle and lovely house. Went to see the snowdrops (February)... lovely tea room.. gardens are open at selected times throughout the year

Great little stop with excellent coffee, super cakes and friendly staff. Open 10am to 2.30pm Monday to Saturday (closed Sundays).

A beautiful place to stop on the ride.

Can be busy at weekends. Open 8.00-17.00 weekdays, 9.00-17.00 Sat, 10.00-15.00 Sun. Their flat white is called a ‘Nigel’ for reasons I didn’t ask.

Nice coffee stop with plenty of cake options and some hot food. Decent seating outside.

Beautiful fan tailed Windmill, in a stunning location.

Nice descent towards Cromer with a swinging right / left double corner which you can take flat out with the right line (but stay on your own side of the road in case of oncoming traffic around the bend).

Long but steady climb to Therfield, the highest place in eastern England (166m). Made worthwhile by the very welcome pub at the top.

The Fox & Duck pub overlooking the village green is as popular as it is scenic.

Same as an earlier highlight, lovely stretch of road (East to West), and even cycling the other way isn't too bad.

A lovely stretch of road, one of my favourites, don't forget to take in the scenery as you go by.

Wouldn't go so far as to say it's "sensational", but in the midst of some hilly country, it's a not too difficult stretch.

Great tea and cakes. Cyclists always welcome. Lots of seating spaces spread out through the garden centre so social distancing is easy and a rack for bikes.
