I grew up here and we visit Freistadt every now and then - but it's always worth a visit!!

The horseshoe and wagon smithy was in operation for over 400 years (1523 - 1923). The bellows are still functional.

From here you can see Kefermarkt and the Renaissance Weinberg Castle, which sits on a ridge above the town.

The old town with its small alleys, the beautiful town square and the castle still has a historic flair. The gardens in the surrounding moat are also very beautiful.

The medieval brewing town of Freistadt impresses with the charm of small alleys, bay windows and courtyards paired with the urban advantages of a district capital.

A beer tasting is worthwhile, very good, different beers 🍻

The Pregarten Museum is a history and regional museum in the town of Pregarten in Upper Austria. It shows a cross-section of 3,200 years of regional contemporary history, from the burial mounds from the Bronze Age to the present. It is located in the Lehnerhaus, a historic building from the 16th century. The museum has several permanent exhibitions, such as: The 1st Upper Austrian stoneware factory Prägarten, which manufactured ceramic products from 1848 to 1930. Trade and commerce in Pregarten through the ages, showing the development of the local economy and society. The tumuli of Unterweitersdorf, which present the oldest archaeological finds from the region. The museum also regularly organizes special exhibitions, events, tours and workshops on various topics. The museum is open every Sunday from April to October from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free, donations are welcome.
