Nice part of the canal here with picturesque lock.

The road fords the River Ash here near Hadham Cross. There is a footbridge for pedestrians or cyclists who don't want wet feet.

A nice quiet country road, which runs from Greensted Green in the west to Chipping Ongar in the east. You pass the Log Church at Greensted about half way along.

Epping Green is a quaint village between Epping and Harlow and lies mainly within Epping Forest land. It’s quite small and cozy but it has little to no amenities. It has a 14th century church but with the lack of a coffee stop you won’t be stopping here for long.

The Queens Head is such a nice pub with a garden to stop for a pint and lunch.

Fantastic view of Audley End House from Adam Bridge. Audley End is a 17th Century mansion that is known as a prodigy house, meaning that it is extra impressive. Often seen on TV on the likes of Antiques Roadshow, the house used to three times the size, if you can believe it. It's a fabulous view as you cycling past, and worth making a detour out of Saffron Walden for.

Lovely stretch through Epping Forest

All Saints Church

River, sheep and ducklings. Great place for a break, seems popular with cyclists and walkers.

After plenty of rain, good for washing the bike

Fast way back into the west side of Harlow if the bridal way is to wet. Watch out though, cars, vans and motorbikes come flying down here (including bikes who park in the ditch facing the wrong way!).

Nice open road - a great place to get some speed up when the wind is with you.

A true Essex cycling highlight! A good climb up from all directions, but you’re rewarded with a quintessential green and a village pub.
