Just absolutely stunning, ancient woodland in the heart of Bradley Stoke!! I could spend hours & hours in here, especially now, in autumn

Such a lush spot, especially in Autumn 🍂🖤🍂 (I'm biased, I think it's the best time of year!) It is worth a walk, and you can easily walk there down the direct path, or there are ways up & down from "The Tump"

In the churchyard there is the grave of Scipio Africanus with its elaborately painted headstone.

After a run in the Blaise Castle Estate, a visit to the Blaise Inn is highly recommended. This charming pub serves excellent food for that all important refuel. There's also the option of the beer garden. Cheers!

St Mary's is a beautiful Grade II-listed church in Henbury, Bristol. It is thought that there has been a church on this site since as early as the 7th century. A set of steps leads down from the graveyard to the trails of the Blaise Castle Estate. It's a bit like something from a children's adventure book. From here, you can follow Hazel Brook all the way into the scenic Henbury Gorge.

Legend has it that Henbury Gorge was created by a giant named Goram in a bid to win the affections of a beautiful woman named Avona. The story goes that he failed to match the efforts of his brother Vincent, who created the grander Avon Gorge, thus winning the beauty's heart. However, Henbury Gorge is a gloriously picturesque landscape in its own right. A tranquil stream, Hazel Brook, flows through its wooded heart and limestone outcrops rise high on either side. Its rough trails are superb fun for trail runners, while road runners can follow the main tarmacked path that undulates through the gorge.

Gets very boggy by the lake in winter, otherwise it's a great track. The boggy bit might be avoidable with a small detour.

Blaise Museum is housed within a 19th-century mansion. Inside, you can observe a social history collection and discover everyday objects from times gone by, including model trains, dolls, toys, period costume, Victorian toilets and baths, and kitchen and laundry equipment. The museum is free to enter.
