The Winterleitenhütte is a popular base for hikers and mountaineers and is located on the Eisenwurzenweg (Austrian long-distance hiking trail 08). In winter there is the possibility of ice skating on the Kleiner Winterleitensee as well as the use of a natural toboggan run, which starts directly behind the house. In addition, guided snowshoe hikes are offered.
