This is SUCH an amazing place with exceptional lunches, cakes and coffee. There's lots of seating inside, a garden out back and they're happy for bikes to be brought in and leant against the walls. There were about 9 bikes in there when I went, including mine. They serve plant based, often locally sourced food with a sustainable ethos.

It's a café, it's a bar, it's a pub.

Left Lake is a small lake on the right of the Two Moors Way trail from Ivybridge heading north to Red Lake. It's a great little pool with a peaty bottom, so the water is quite dark. It warms up well if you get a few days of sunshine, perfect for a quick dip on a long run on the south moor.

Built between 1910 and 1912, this former railway line used to transport labourers and kit up to the Red Lake China Clay Works, as well as returning waste products that were put to use as fertiliser. Today, only the track bed is left, providing a long, winding, and fairly gentle way to get up onto the moor from Bittaford, near Ivybridge. The track is a firm local favourite with mountain bikers and gravel riders alike, and also very popular with hikers and the herds of Belted Galloway cattle that roam Ugborough and Harford Moors. Although gentle in gradient, it's pretty rough in parts, so wider tyres are recommended.

Dartmeet is named as the meeting point of the two major tributaries of the Dart, the East Dart and West Dart rivers. This has been a crossing point for hundreds of years with the remains of an old clapper bridge near the current road bridge (built in 1792). It's a nice place to stop for a break before tackling the road climbs in either direction.

New Bridge was built across the Dart in 1413. It's a good stopping point when riding this road because it gives access to some nice walks down the river and because the hills are so steep! There is often an ice cream van here.

Part of NCN route 2, this road follows peaceful, undulating lanes, taking you around the perimeter of Dartmoor National Park from South Brent to Bittaford. Dartmoor is one of two national parks on route 2 – the other being the New Forest in Hampshire.
