The visitor centre is located on the A5, approximately 5 miles south of Bethesda and approximately 4 miles west of Capel Curig, on the western side of Llyn Ogwen. There are a number of facilities including toilets, disabled toilets, an information room, public wifi and a small kiosk selling hot and cold snacks. From the visitor centre you can start a range of walks and climbs in the area. The most popular is the walk to Wales' first ever national nature reserve, the beautiful Cwm Idwal, a glacial lake with a mountainous backdrop. (Cwm Idwal National Nature Reserve)

Great fun for the kids. Can be cold at times but not very long so you're soon out into the sun.

Good place for start and end of the hike. Has toilets and coffee / pastries. Also sells warm hats.

Accessible from the Lôn Las Ogwen cycle path, over a rollable bridge and a short section on a gravel path to the cafe.

Please be aware all cars pay to par whether that's in a layby or a car park charges still happy or risk towing.

Be careful you don't use the gully that's fenced off rock fall.has recently happened

Just outside of Bangor, Porth Penrhyn is a pretty harbour on the edge of the Menai Strait. You'll find fishing boats and coastal freight ships moored up here along the dockside as well as lovely views across the water. This harbour has been in use since the 18th century at least and a railway was built from Bethesda to carry slate down to the ships.

Ogwen Cottage has loos, a cafe and a visitors' centre, making it a perfect starting point for a walk. Open seven days most of the year, it operates reduced hours during the winter months. We had a lovely lamb pasty from here after our Y Garn walk.

Plenty of parking, but I would get there early. Cafe, toilets, and a bargain at £6 all day (certainly compared to Pen Y Pass)

This is the point in the Nant Ffrancon valley where the extraordinary sights of Tryfan, the Glyders and the Carneddau really open up. Surely one of the most beautiful valleys in Snowdonia, as this narrow lane leads you high above the valley floor, the views just get better and better.

There are several waterfalls along River Ogwen and this is the perfect spot to sit on the serene riverbank and see the water breaking over large slabs. This river travels from Llyn Ogwen north west to the sea at Bangor and has a wonderful cycle path along much of its length.
