Moretonhampstead to Bovey Tracey os a great, smooth off road trail. Best avoided during school holiday week ends if speed is your thing but easy to cruise at 20mph when it's empty.

Even though it does not tower above the houses in the village, this small sacred monument is of a striking height and is clearly visible. The cross, made of stone - possibly granite - has a beautiful, dignified place. It rests on a large, multi-tiered base, the lowest level of which could serve as a seat, thus inviting the passing hiker to stop for a short spiritual rest.

This is a serene section of walking through the enchanting Pullabrook Woods alongside the River Bovey. You'll be strolling through a towering canopy of deciduous woodland through the Bovey Valley, with scenic river views throughout.

Beautiful historic stone bridge set in such a tranquil location that your heart rate will drop by thirty beats per minute. Lovely picnic area and great for kids. Access by foot from nearby road a five minute walk away.

Beautiful thatched roof village but I missed the cross!

A real Dartmoor gem, Lustleigh is worth running through to admire the thatched cottages and soak up its traditional feel. Its easy to see why it's touted as Dartmoor's prettiest village. It also makes a great place to start and/or finish a run, with Lustleigh Cleave closeby, as well as Hound Tor and Haytor in striking distance. Plus a village tearooms for refueling afterwards.

Arching across the River Bovey this medieval packhorse bridge offers a glimpse into Dartmoor's past. Most likely used to travel between Lustleigh and Haytor and Manaton, it is said to be one of Dartmoor's prettiest river crossings. Especially lovely in the summer with the forest in its green splendour.

Now a foot and cycle path, this trail stretches from Bovey Tracey to the Lustleigh road and continues on past Lustleigh towards Moretonhampstead. This stretch is lush for running at any time of year, especially spring and autumn as the beech leaves are incredible. There are lots of trails off it too, so you can run different loops and routes.

This beautiful moss covered river crossing is a medieval packhorse bridge. It crosses the River Bovey and there are benches nearby where you can stop and watch the world go by. Some say it is the prettiest bridge in Dartmoor.

Hunter's Tor is a granite rock formation high up above the Bovey River that drops sharply down into the valley. There are fantastic views from up here and on a day of good visibility you can see for miles around. It's a wonderful place to stop and appreciate the vastness of Dartmoor.

Lustleigh is a beautiful Devon village with thatched white painted cottages and narrow lanes. Some say it is the prettiest village in Dartmoor. Here you can find a tea rooms, village shop, pub and 'The Orchard', the local park filled with apple trees.
