Unfortunately you have to drive part of the way on the road

The stretch between Werfen and Golling along the federal highway is very dangerous because of the trucks. My landlady advised me against it and told me to take the train. I don't tend to over-dramatize things, but just look at the pictures of the narrow federal highway.

There's a special species of human being in the Austrian Alps: the mountain farmer. These brave souls cultivate steep slopes that would be considered climbing routes for normal people and raise cows that are more sure-footed than a spiked shoe. Why do they do this? Well, who else would get up at 4 a.m. to milk a herd of cows standing on a meadow with a 45-degree slope? And all this with a view that tourists pay hundreds of euros for? For the mountain farmer, that's just "Tuesday."

Beautiful panorama really great

I arrived just in time to cool off in the water jet. I was a bit surprised by the relatively small spectator area; in Oberstdorf, it's considerably larger. I wonder how the spectators get up the mountain, given the steep and narrow road.

View of Hohenwerfen Castle from the AA route, road section, uphill, heavy traffic, possible difficult conditions on this section in case of heavy rainfall...
