The aerial walkway offers visitors a bird’s eye view of woodland and ponds, including one restored in 2001 after rhododendron clearance. Stretching 90 metres through the canopy, it reveals a rich habitat: oak trees support countless species, while dormice, foxes, squirrels and roe deer live here. Birds such as nuthatch, marsh tit, sparrowhawk and woodpecker are often seen, and summer evenings bring bats and tawny owls. Wooden carvings, children’s poetry and playful handrail games enrich the experience. Wheelchair-friendly with benches, bird boxes and feeders, the walkway was created by Devon County Council with interpretation by Greenspace, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

he Graving Dock Lock was a dry dock used for the repair and maintenance of barges. It is situated about half a mile south of the canal terminus at Ventiford basin. Restoration work involved the partial dismantling of the massive lock masonry, clearing it of tree roots and repointing.
