Burghley House is always worth a wander through. It has wide shared paths for walking and cycling so it's just for slow speeds. Free parking if you have a car.

For over 500 years, the house has been continuously occupied by the Cecil family, and direct descendants still live there today.

The entire park was closed for the setting up of an event when I visited

The Bottle Lodges at Burghley House are a pair of distinctive gatehouses located at the entrance to the estate, built in 1801 to commemorate the Earl of Exeter's elevation to the marquessate.

Burghley House is open daily except Fridays, from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm, while the Gardens and Adventure Play area are open daily from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

St Martin's Church in Stamford, Lincolnshire, is a Grade I listed Church of England parish church. Historically located in Northamptonshire until 1889, the area it serves is known as Stamford Baron or St Martin's, situated south of the River Welland.

Impressive parkland thanks to C Brown. Whilst in the area pedal a few miles along the quiet roads on the north and east sides of the estate to visit the Hills and Holes National Nature Reserve in Barnack.

Burghley Park is an expansive estate near Stamford, featuring beautifully landscaped gardens and scenic grounds surrounding the historic Burghley House.

Burghley House, not far from Stamford, is one of England's grandest country houses from the 16th century. It was built between 1555 and 1587 by William Cecil, 1st Baron Burghley and Chancellor of the Exchequer to Queen Elizabeth I. It contains an extremely valuable interior, including the largest private collection of Italian art, Chinese porcelain, tapestries and furniture from the 18th century. Many of the rooms feature beautiful plasterwork or ceiling paintings. The large kitchen with its rich equipment of copper utensils is also very interesting. It is still inhabited by the Cecil family today.

Incredible place! The Orangery, garden shed shop, free ranging sheep, ...and the paintings are stunning! The garden is great fun for little kids as it's full of fountains and mirrors and other hidden gems.

Didn’t get as far as the house but the driveway looked pretty impressive.

The Bottle Lodges were built in 1801 to celebrate the Earl’s elevation to the title of 1st Marquess of Exeter. They are based on the surviving lodges for Old Campden Manor, Chipping Campden, built around 1613.

Fryers' Callis almshouse, is dated 1833 and was built by the architect George Basevi, from bequests in the will of Henry Fryer, a surgeon. It originally provided accommodation for six poor widows.

The Bottle Lodges mark the original horse & coach entrance to Burghley House from the Great North Road.

Burghley House is an Elizabethan house (circa 1587) featuring a serpentine park that was designed by Lancelot "Capability" Brown. It's a fantastic venue to visit (I used to work in the gardens!) Many of the paths through the parkland are freely open for public access, with no entry fee required.
