Refreshments at the Two Magpies

This area is made up of expansive green fields, marshlands and views over the nearby coastline. It's a great spot for walking and birdwatching and is situated near the village of Morston. You can also access Morston Quay from nearby this point via boat, where you'll find the local seal colonies on Blakeney Point.

Blakeney Marshes, also known as Blakeney Freshes, is a vast expanse of freshwater grazing marshes. A nature reserve, it's an important habitat for all sorts of residents, from otters and voles to Brent geese and avocet. No matter what time of year you visit, there'll be plenty of birdlife to see. A footpath takes you around the perimeter of the marshes, providing some wonderful viewing spots, a little raised over the flat fields.

Between Stiffkey and Warham on the Norfolk Coastal Path lies The Whirlygig, a large metal pole stood in the centre of an overgrown circular area and surrounded by a metalled tack. The pole was used in the early 1950s for the practice firing of anti-aircraft guns.

This ruined, 15th-century building harks from the time when Blakeney was one of Norfolk's most important ports. While it's called the 'Guildhall', there's no evidence that it's ever served as such, and is more likely to have been a merchant's house. Inside, you'll find a brick-vaulted undercroft – the first storey of the house no longer exists. The site is owned by English Heritage and you can see the exterior whenever you like, but check opening times if you'd like to see inside.
