Henham is a pretty little village in rural Essex, although the proximity to Stansted Airport means that the ski tends to be busier than the streets. The Cock Inn is a good pub, worth a stop, the village shop is great for picking up supplies and the Church of St Mary's has been here since 1044 (although it's not the same building).

Good climb up single track road west to east.

Nice pub with seats in front and large garden to side. Well worth a rest after the hill up to it.

On the way on Bishop's Stortford, this was kind of an unexpected tough hill. Highly recommended.

Best traversed westbound for the downhill. Eastbound it's one of those gradual climbs that never relents, made even more difficult by the wind howling across the fields.

Wasn't really "gravel" when I went through here earlier, more "compacted". Either way, in all but the worst weather, it's a good shortcut.

This section of road floods in heavy rain and stays flooded long after, as the location is enclosed by trees and the sun doesn't get to it. Under some conditions it's possible to walk along the verge, but when fully flooded (as it seems to be more often than not) forget it, the verges are underwater. I estimate the water can get to 7-8 inches deep in places. UPDATE - As of March 2022, there is an informal path looping round to the west, which connects to the bridleway in the north.
