The bench by the Stour really is a nice spot if you need a stop. There's a tarmac path leading to it if you don't fancy off-roading across the grass.

Relatively traffic-free cut across the southern edge of Colchester.

Semi-hidden turning off the main B1408 which drops you over the bypass into the new Legoland suburbs of Colchester. Better than the main roads.

Wormingford is a pretty and historic village in the Dedham Vale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Its St Andrew's Church is Grade I-listed and has been serving the parish since the 12th century, while there have been many Neolithic discoveries made in the surrounding countryside. You can refuel at the Crown pub and restaurant.

Not a highlight as such as in I wouldn't make a special trip to see it, but it's a wide underpass joining Lucy Lane South and North under the A12, which is a decent link from Stanway to Eight Ash Green (the beginning of loads of country lanes).
