A lot of money has been invested in cyclist safety here. The construction of the cycle path under the road bridge over the Pielach River has eliminated an accident hotspot. Years ago, road crossings were required here. However, caution is advised; the road is confusing, and the center line is there for a reason! A little further toward Melk, another underpass was built, eliminating a bottleneck and diverting cyclists from the next road junction.

Albrechtsberg Castle was built in the late 11th century and was first mentioned in a document in 1147. The originally Gothic castle seat was later converted into a Renaissance castle. Nice trip along the Danube, good restaurant (Aggsteinerhof) along the way! As a bonus, the climb up the Wolfsteingraben: not too steep, but still challenging. Finally, a rapid descent to Loosdorf. All in all, a nice afternoon tour.

The mostly pleasantly flat Pielachtal cycle path is directly connected to the Danube cycle path and leads from Melk upstream through the Mostviertel and is ideal for families, leisure cyclists and those who flee the city.

The castle was built and named by Albrecht von Perg (1120, † 1168), a member of the family of the Lords of Perg and Machland. After the Perg family died out, half of the castle passed directly to the Babenbergs, and the remaining half to the County of Plain and its successors, the County of Schaunberg. At the end of the 19th century, extensive reconstruction work was carried out under the Auersperg family. The castle was devastated during World War II in 1945. Since 1995, it has been owned by the Weinberger family and is being gradually renovated.

Here on the bike path you are on vacation! The route is varied, paved, well labeled, almost always on the shore and with many rest areas, refreshment or shopping facilities of the local specialties (apricots!) Equipped. Whether you are passing through picturesque villages or cycling through meadows or vineyards, I enjoy every meter!

Dedicated by the market town of Loosdorf, created by Friedrich Rud and Johann Eichmayer - September 2008. The metal box could contain a summit book - unfortunately, it's filled with garbage - what a pity!

A beautiful route along the Danube. Well paved. Along the way you drive embedded in beautiful natural landscape and along small charming places. Even on busy days, the track offers enough space for every driver.
