In the case of a "market cross," such as the one we encounter once again in the center of Chichester, one would have to ask the fundamental question of whether it is actually primarily a small sacred monument—as its cross shape suggests—or whether it is more of a secular object. It's not only the market cross. Only about 100 yards from here you find the impressive cathedral with adjacent monastery - worth a visit. And across the dtreet from the cathedral in another former church you find the pleasant "The Duke's" Pub.

A good cycle path that connects the center of Chichester with the area north of it. You avoid motorized traffic and the surface is comfortable.
