At the border between Germany and Austria near Vorarlberg, only an inconspicuous border stone or sign separates the two countries – often in the middle of meadows, forests, or across alpine pastures. With a single step, you cross into the other country, while before you unfolds a view of Lake Constance, the Rhine Valley, or the Nagelfluhkette mountain range. A quiet yet special spot offering a genuine sense of the border on your hike.

The parish church of St. Anton in Balderschwang, located at 1,044 meters, is one of the highest parish churches in Germany. It is known to many people through Radio Horeb, which broadcasts from here.

This is a wonderful descent from Zimmeregg down to Bolgenach. The view of the Bregenz Forest is wonderful.

I can't find a wildlife rest zone in this area; perhaps the authorities have downgraded the area because the wildlife probably has enough material to eat and isn't biting into the tree trunks anymore.
