A wonderful example of a lock bridge, and a great spot for a BAAB (bike against a bridge) photo. It's peaceful and picturesque, you might even spot a canal boat or two.

Audlem is a stunning little town with a striking church and high street. Nice to see a place decked out with Union Flags.

„Today the Salt Line runs through farmland and woodlands, with streams, pools and rough grassland. Wild primroses brighten up the steep cutting at Roughwood Hollow while later in the year the delicate flowers of scabious and harebell can be seen on the banks. Areas of willow and hazel are coppiced regularly. This is an ancient woodland practice in which trees are cut every few years to produce timber that would have been traditionally used for thatching spars, barrel hoops, hurdles and baskets. Sheltered glades are created where flower and insects thrive, until the trees re-grow and the process begins again. Some areas are managed as wild flower meadows while others are left fairly wild and just cut back enough to keep the path clear. Audlem is an attractive place--beware of the traffic if you are on bike though!

make sure you buy your bottle from the bottle vending machine first before going to the milkshake machine

good place to stop to quench your thirst. fresh ice cold milk sold by the litre or milk shake's various flavours. tip if you have a milkshake use a 2 litre bottle (empty bottles are provided) as with the milkshake syrup and the milk the 1 litre bottle will overflow!!!! open from very early in the morning till 9.30pm takes cash (coins ) or contactless payments. Also has a nice padded bench which is under cover.

Just off a main road is this quiet country lane which also has a short step free access to good canal path

You dont see houses like this anymore! There are obviously well loved by the current owners

You can use the byway just off the main canal footpath

Fast up and down over beautiful stream flanked by lovely view and houses

Cyclists are asked to dismount on part of the trail due to rabbit burrows. Fabulous for families, and hikers too

Access from The Salt Line. Great for walkers and bikes and has a tree trail so great for families. Also an animal and bird look out board.

Lovely hidden meadow around a lake.

Perfect place for those willing a satisfying milkshake after a boggy ride. They even sell raw milk so what not to like...Oh, and don't forget some monies with you as the vending machine does not accept contactless payment as of March 09 2024

One of the flattest gravelly trails I've ever ridden

Audlem is a sizeable picturesque canal side village with a long history that goes back to the doomsday book. Audlem is famous for its run of 15 locks designed by Thomas Telford to raise the canal up from the Cheshire plain. The walk along the locks is regarded as one of the finest walks in lowland England.

An idea spot to pause and immerse oneself in the breathtaking scenery. Abundant in wildlife, the pool is graced by a resident flock of mute swans.

Great spot to stop and rest with some wildlife nearby. Particularly goof for birdwatchers.
