If you're on the cliffs edge then you're in for some stunning views of the Jurassic coast.

The Cobb is a pier made from cobblestones. The Cobb has been rebuilt or damaged several times by storms, including: 1377: The Cobb was swept away, destroying 50 boats and 80 houses 1690s: The southern arm was added 1793: The southern arm was rebuilt after being destroyed by a storm 1820: The Cobb was reconstructed using Portland Admiralty Roach, a type of Portland stone 1824: The High Wall was constructed after damage from heavy storms

The Cobb is a stone breakwater that curves out to sea at the western end of the Lyme Regis coast. It shelters the harbour and lifeboat station. The earliest mention of the Cobb is 1294 but it was probably built before that. The current structure mostly dates to 1817 when it was rebuilt using Portland stone after a severe storm damaged the previous version. The Cobb appears in both Jane Austen’s novel Persuasion and John Fowles' novel The French Lieutenant’s Woman. It's a nice place to walk out to on a calm day but you're likely to get soaked or worse if the sea is high.

Small village which is almost like a cross roads to different cycling routes. Co-op shop here for resupply options.

Great coffee in the cafe, and a great bike repair/sales shop as well. Crank arm came loose in middle of the ride, the chaps in the shop tightened it up, all for free.

Good pub. Great food and beer.
