ゴットヴァイク修道院はしばしば「オーストリアのモンテカッシーノ」と呼ばれますが、その前に立つと、その理由がすぐにわかります。クレムスとマウテルンの真向かい、ヴァッハウの東端にある標高422メートルの丘の上に荘厳にそびえ立っています。今日私たちが目にする修道院は、1718年の壊滅的な火災後の巨大な再建の結果です。有名な建築家ヨハン・ルーカス・フォン・ヒルデブラント（ウィーンのベルヴェデーレ宮殿も設計）は、巨大な城のような複合施設を計画しました。しかし、資金不足のため、当初の計画の約3分の2しか完成しませんでしたが、それによって複合施設の印象が薄れることはありません。

Langenlois is a charming little town located in the renowned Kamptal wine region. It is especially known for its wine production, particularly Grüner Veltliner and Riesling. The town boasts a charming old town, numerous traditional wine taverns (Heurige), and attracts wine lovers from all over the world. A highlight is the Loisium Wine & Spa Resort, a modern wine experience center with a hotel, museum, and spa, which is architecturally impressive. Langenlois thus uniquely combines history, culture, and viticulture.

The section of the cycle path from the Tisza to the Danube leads from the Krems Bridge through a densely vegetated landscape, where the path winds between tall grasses and overhanging trees. In places, the vegetation reaches right up to the path, conveying a sense of seclusion and tranquility. This section is particularly attractive for cyclists, as it offers an intense nature experience and impressively conveys the transition from the open countryside to the Danube.

The cycle path section between the Danube and Krems is in excellent condition: newly paved, wide, and flat – ideal for cyclists of all experience levels. It runs directly along the water and, thanks to its open location, offers impressive views of the river landscape. On one side lies the tranquil Danube with its banks, while on the other, renaturalized ditches and meadows line the path. The route is particularly atmospheric in the morning or evening hours, when the light falls flat and bathes the surroundings in warm colors. The gentle topography makes this section not only scenic but also extremely comfortable to ride.

At approximately 12.5 kilometers, the Altenwörth Fish Bypass is the longest of its kind in Austria and was built between 2019 and 2022 as part of the LIFE Network Danube Plus project. It allows fish such as huchen, schied, and zingel to bypass the Altenwörth Danube power plant and provides a continuous connection to the tributaries, the Kamp and Krems. The near-naturally designed bypass stream, with shallow water zones, gravel banks, and deadwood, also creates new habitats for numerous animal and plant species. The facility is also of interest to cyclists: Along the Danube and its adjacent waterways, natural paths offer views of renaturalized landscapes, small bays, and ecologically valuable rest areas. It is a successful example of how flood protection, energy use, and biodiversity can be reconciled.
