Watch out for walkers around some of the locks. Few blind corners.

Very quiet place, which is popular among runners and walkers. However, Worcestershire&Birmingham channel is relatively well-surfaced at this section (compacted gravel with some cobblestones). So, it can be carefully(!) completed on road bikes with decent tires. If not, then ~1km of pushing in total from the nearest road.

Great traffic-free route between north Worcester and Droitwich

Much quieter than the Worcester and Birmingham Canal, the Droitwich Barge Canal links the aforementioned with the River Severn upstream of Worcester and offers a great way of linking the two settlements in a completely traffic-free way.

Architecture and engineering fans delight - so many rural scenes to discover along the Worcester and Birmingham Canal.

Tardebigge Locks or the Tardebigge Flight is the longest flight of locks in the UK, comprising 30 narrow locks on a two-and-a-quarter-mile stretch of the Worcester and Birmingham Canal at Tardebigge, Worcestershire. Well worth checking out... and realising that travelling on foot or bike it a lot quicker than travelling by canal boat!

The nearest place in the direction of Hawford Junction is Porters Mill Bridge No 5; a few yards away. Single track good for MTB

Well kept towpath, shared with boaters, cyclists, walkers, and reasonably friendly swans. No arms broken, despite their mythical strength! Lovely peaceful place, gentle slopes, very leisurely.

Diglis Bottom Lock No 1 is a minor waterways place on the Worcester and Birmingham Canal (Diglis Junction to Diglis Basin) between Diglis Junction (Junction of Worcester and Birmingham Canal with River Severn) (½ furlongs to the west) and Diglis Lock No 2 (½ furlongs to the northeast). It is part of Worcester. The nearest place in the direction of Diglis Junction is Diglis Bottom Swing Bridge No 1; a few yards away. The nearest place in the direction of Diglis Lock No 2 is Diglis Locks Middle Basin; ¼ furlongs away.

Ride the locks uphill in the dry, for the sense of achievement, but if it is muddy this can be a slog or, going down the locks is probably more fun.

Tardebigge Top Lock is the summit of the 30-lock Tardebigge flight - the longest in the UK. From 1810-1814 it was the site of an experiemental man-powered boat lift. If you arrive at the Tardebigge marina from the Alcester Road, the canal is downhill all the way to Hanbury, then flat to Worcester. Easier tackled in that direction!

Great series of locks, reasonable surface in the main and plenty of width to pass walkers without too much bother. Away from the locks towards Droitwich things can get muddy at times.

From Worcester Bridge, you are afforded wonderful views over the city, the River Severn and the cathedral. The current bridge was built in 1781 but underwent full reconstruction in 1931 to cope with increased traffic. It is believed that a bridge has stood in this location since medieval times.
