Promnitz Palace, built in 1603 and rebuilt in the Baroque style in 1730, is a unique historical heritage site on the Elbe River. It was the setting for the famous Zeithain pleasure camp, where Augustus the Strong and his guests marveled at a magnificent fireworks display over the Elbe. Today, the palace is the last remaining building commemorating this spectacular event.

In 1999, the sculpture "Elbquelle" was created by Jörg Immendorff, who was inspired by winter oaks from paintings by Caspar David Friedrich.
