Foxton locks is the longest staircase flight of canal locks in Britain. The feet of engineering was completed in 1814 and allows canal boats to climb the 75-foot (23m) hill. There is a museum here and you can take a boat trip up the locks (summer only).

Foxton road swing bridge is the very first navigational feature tourists trying their hand at narrow boating will encounter on leaving Market Harborough marina. It is a piece of road which needs to be swung out of the way. A great place to stop and watch the action,or lend a hand if you're feeling generous.

Foxton Locks are a series of no less than ten canal locks consisting of two "staircases" each of five locks, on the Leicester line of the Grand Union Canal. Alongside the locks is the site of the Foxton Inclined Plane, built in 1900 to resolve the restrictions imposed by the lock flight.

Shearsby is a small village with no less than 9 Grade II listed buildings. One of the characteristics of the village is the locally hand-made bricks used to build some of the old cottages, which can be identified by their variation in size and shape.

Bridge 61 offers a fantastic location and is a cozy spot where you can relax and slow the pace of life down to canal speed.

"Service is everything" at Mega Bike. Helpful independent bike shop, ideal for spares and repairs if you're passing through.

A nice option for a stop on the edge of Little Bowden. Prepare to do a bit of climbing when you leave though, if heading south.

Great stop for food and drinks in the sun.

Covering 47 acres, Saddington Reservoir is an important biological site. The area comprises of wet willow, woodland, swamp, open water, and wetland habitats. It provides a home for various wildlife, such as beetles that have become scarce in the UK.

Some good hills and quiet lanes.
