Good for grabbing a well earned rest after your hill climbs. Tea and cakes on Sunday afternoon too!

Can be wet, slippy and very dark! Make sure that you have your lights! If you're on road tyres I would advise walking. Mountain and Gravel bikes are suitable to ride through.

Bring a beer for a date with the sun and the birds of prey!

There is a good coffee shop at Waterloo Farm Leisure just off Brampton Valley Way about half a mile from the Great Oxendon tunnel entrance on the Market Harborough side.

Interesting experience! Need good lights as obviously it is very dark. Surface is not good, quite a few puddles and potholes, need to take it steady. The notices at the entrance actually advise getting off and pushing your bike through but I wouldn’t have thought this was necessary if you were a reasonably good rider and had lights. I rode through OK although got a puncture!

Lovely bridleway. Heading south starts as gravel, then grass, then fields then wood. Fields and wood can be difficult to pass in winter

The source of the River Welland issues as a spring at Spring Croft, Church Street in Sibbertoft.

A fun climb, not too hard with a great view. Well worth it.

The historic Northamptonshire village of East Farndon lies on the Jurassic Way long-distance footpath, though there are few facilities for hikers to make use of. King Charles I's army stayed here during the First English Civil War before their defeat at the Battle of Naseby. Just to the south is Prince Rupert's Viewpoint, which he would have used around 8am on the morning of the battle to look out across the fields. Built to supply water to the nearby Grand Union Canal, Welford and Sulby Reservoirs are wonderfully scenic. Keep your eyes peeled for carp beneath the surface. A loop of Welford Reservoir is an easy walk from nearby Welford, where there are also peaceful walking options along the canal.

At the source of the River Welland, Sibbertoft is a pretty Northamptonshire village that boasts several listed buildings, notably its Grade II*-listed parish church. You can seek accommodation and good food at the Red Lion.

Stunning views across the valley as you leave or head towards Market Harborough.

Definitely worth the climb just for the view

This tunnel has no lighting - so have a light of some kind at the ready.
