From Freien, before the exit to Obergünzburg, you'll have a full mountain view stretching from Oberammergau to Oberstaufen. Alternatively, turn right behind Freien, passing Eschers and the Allinger Eselhof. An alternative route to Obergünzburg follows the ridge. Then, either turn left down to Obergünzburg or right down to Untrasried.

A beautiful route in both directions. From Eldern, it climbs for a long time but never becomes particularly steep, and traffic is limited. After the forest, the route continues across open meadows with no mountain views.

The court garden between the residence and the orangery is beautiful. An oasis in the middle of the city.

Beautiful fountain in Hopferbach with benches. Perfect for filling up with water. There is no sign saying "not drinking water" so it should be straight from the tap. Tastes good and can possibly be confirmed in further comments by locals 😎👌

On St. Mang Square, directly in front of the church of the same name, there is an Art Nouveau fountain from 1905: the St. Mang Fountain. The fountain, which is now a listed building, was created by Georg Wrba, one of the most important German sculptors of the 20th century, and is made of stone and bronze. At the center, under a protective canopy, is Saint Magnus of Füssen - Apostle of the Allgäu - and around him you can see an ibex, a doe, a stag and a unicorn. A young one sits enthroned on each of the animals. One of them has human feet, the other flippers, the next hooves and one bird's claws, which symbolizes the four elements.
