The approximately two-hectare city moat is located in the heart of Wolfenbüttel. For 135 years, the water tower has been part of the Lessingstadt's cityscape, particularly shaping the landscape around the city moat. The tower has long since ceased to serve as a water reservoir. Rather, it offers great potential as a residential or commercial building. The tall tower includes the so-called pump house, which was built next to the imposing water tower in the 1930s and has already been converted into a residential property. The Lessing Theater in Wolfenbüttel was opened in 1909 and is operated by the city of Wolfenbüttel as a guest theater.
