A very pleasant cycleway - of course also for hikers and riders - along the Bridgewater Canal

Careful on the south side, quite boggy.

Generally harmless, but do keep dogs on leads. The park puts up signage of when to stay well clear.

Great place to stop for a bit of food or just a coffee. Bike racks and tables inside and out. Today I had a very tasty beetroot and goats cheese tatin with some great wedges and garlic mayo.

Fantastic coffee and cakes on this floating cafe. A great option for a peaceful mid ride stop - sit on the canal banks and take it all in.

Canal barge cafe with some outdoor benches to take a load off. Well worth a stop on a nice day.

These are 2 different cafes, neither of which are in the dropped pin location. One is on the Whitegate Way & the other is in Delamere Forest!

Also pass Tatton Park on the charity ride Manchester 100. It can get very busy around the park with cars looking for a parking space. They refuse to give you any room. So take extra care.

A good place to get any supllies along the lymme part of the Trans Pennine trail

The Bridgewater Canal connects Runcorn, Manchester and Leigh. It was originally built to transport coal from mines in Worsley to Manchester. Now it is forms part of the 40 mile (64 km) Bridgewater Way, a scheme to redevelop the canal, especially for cyclists.
